highlight for me of the 2003 Ohio Cichlid Association’s annual
Cichlid Extravaganza was to finally meet in person the “Cory
God” of the
UK

"Kingfish" Lucas of Kingfish Services (NY), who
many have seen at various fish club events, recently met up
with an old friend (R) Larry Desiano (without beard!). Larry was
an active member of my home fish club, Greater Pittsburgh
Aquarium Society, in the mid -late 70's and founder of the, now
inactive, North American Fish Breeders Guild. I remember
visiting Larry's fishroom when I was in high school and I'm
still amazed at what I had seen!

stopped to visit in July of 2002 (L-R) Steven Pro (PA) at that
time President of the Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society, Inc. Lorenzo Gonzalez (MI) computer master extraordinaire Anthony
Calfo (PA) authored,
Book of Coral Propagation, Vol. 1 Reef Gardening for Aquarists
(450 pages, www.readingtrees.com).

Cichlid
expert, Dr. Wayne Leibel (PA) takes a break while visiting in
May of 2002. Wayne, is also one of the countries top
collectors of Vintage Aquarium items, stopped by
my house to see my room of vintage aquarium products. Made me
happy to see that he spotted a few things he liked!

"Gerald (Jerry) Lofstead, president of Back
Bay Aquaculture, Inc. located in Lakeland Florida dropped in for
a visit in July 2002. Gerald has been well known in
the Western Pennsylvania area for a long time, as well as
the AKA, Florida Fish Farmers & shippers/collectors
world-wide."

Killifish Association (PAKA) joined in for an excellent

new AOA facility during the Greater Pittsburgh Aquarium
Society's 55th Anniversary Show, April 2002.

Long time friends and Pittsburgh's top fish
breeder, Skip & Barb Waskowiak stopped by the new
hatchery for a visit. I've known Skip for 25 years and
don't know of a fish he has worked with and didn't
spawn!

Lee
Harper (PA) found time for a visit in the middle of 2002. He was
in town for a talk on his collecting trip to South America. Lee
also gives a good talk on Killifish.

Gary Elson (Quebec, Canada) was in
town July of 2001 as a speaker for my local fish club. Gary
did a little fishroom hop while in town. Here he is standing
next to some of my vintage aquarium pieces.

Kevin Newsome
(Utah) stopped by for a visit around Thanksgiving 2000. He
carried, in a small bottle in his shirt pocket, a batch of
Aspidoras sp. C-35 "Black Phantom" fry that were just
days old. Most of those fish grew to adulthood and are now
breeding for me. |

to visit his fish room. Paul likes oddball catfish, a must see for

Sacramento, California was in town and stopped by in Feb.

Cichlids you must visit his site. This photo of Ron was taken
next to one of my displays of "Vintage" aquarium

Monty Lehmann (VA)
stopped by with a "Wish List" as he was passing thru
Pittsburgh in the summer of 2000. Monty was putting on a
"Killifish Smile" in this shot! |

Paul Turley, out
of Ohio, was in for some photo taking of Catfish. Paul does a
great job with fish photography and has many shots out on the
web. He also gives a good "Fish Photography" talk for
local fish clubs! |
