Guarantee

We guarantee to ship only the healthiest, highest quality fish possible. We guarantee Live Delivery to you, but not the delivery time.  Every effort will be made on our end to ensure that the fish arrive to you alive and in a timely manner.  We professionally pack the fish to last several days, just in case there are delays by the shipping company.  In the event that your fish arrive dead, we normally replace them if available or give you credit on your next order. In the event the fish arrive dead, we ask that you email or call us within 24 hours (our phone number will be on the shipping receipt). We might have you send back the dead fish. To do this without a lot of smell and mess, cover them with a little salt, then seal them in a plastic bag and mail them back.  SHIPPING FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-CREDITED.

Minimum Order

Minimum Order for shipping ( as of March 1,2004 ) is $75.00.  Smaller orders simply are not practical due to the cost of shipping.  On average, the least expensive shipment that can be shipped via USPS Express will cost approximately $30.00, which includes insulated box and heat pack.

Shipping

United States Postal Service (USPS): We can ship "Live Fish" via Express Mail (which is usually a next day delivery) without many problems or delays. We guarantee the Live Delivery of the fish to you, not the delivery time, with USPS Express as long as someone is present to receive the shipment on the first delivery attempt. We recommend delivery to your workplace or home where someone is available to receive and sign for your order. There is no refund of shipping cost due to delays by USPS.

Priority Shipping can be done on orders but at your own risk! Cost is much less but there have been many reports of Priority Shipping taking many more days to be delivered than expected. We do not guarantee Live Delivery with this method of shipping and there is no refund of shipping cost due to delays by USPS.  .

Airborne Express/DHL. Freight charges must be worked out on an individual basis depending on your location. Live delivery of fish is guaranteed with "Overnight Air Express" as long as someone is present to receive and sign for the shipment on the first delivery attempt. We guarantee the Live Delivery of the fish to you, not the delivery time. We recommend delivery to your workplace or home where someone is available to receive your order. We can also have a shipment held at your local Airborne/DHL office and Airborne/DHL will notify you by phone for you to pick up at their office. This will reduce the temperature stress that may occur during delivery and may reduce the delivery time. There is no refund of shipping cost due to delays by Airborne/DHL. Before Your Fish Arrive

Have a tank or tanks ready for your fish at home. Use your regular aged/treated tap water when setting up the tank, unless we recommend otherwise for certain species. Be sure to have a "cycled" tank and filter in which to place your new fish . DO NOT put your fish into pure "R.O." or de-ionized water. This will greatly stress and probably kill your new arrivals. They need to be acclimated to this type of water over time. You should not feed for at least 8 hours after your fish are in their new tank

Receiving Your Fish at the Airport

If you are picking up your fish at the airport, please check them immediately in the presence of the airline personnel. Things happen occasionally that cause them to die during the shipping process.  In the event that your fish arrive dead, we will either replace them if available or give you credit on your next order.  All we ask is that you call us within 24 hours (we will include our Phone number on the invoice) and within a few days mail (third class is fine) back the dead fish and the damaged box. To do this without a lot of smell and mess, cover them with a cup or two of salt for two to three days to dry them out. Then seal them in a plastic bag (when dried out) and mail them back. We understand that it can be very discouraging to receive dead fish and we will do everything we can to see that this situation is taken care of as smoothly as possible.

If your fish arrived dead, late  or the box looks damaged make sure the airport carrier agent notes this on the air bill.  Shipping fees are nonrefundable.

Acclimating Your Fish

Acclimating Your Fish

We suggest you follow this procedure . Our fish are raised in water with a pH that can vary from 6.8 - 8.2 and hardness of about 250 PPM. Hardness normally has little effect on the acclimation process but pH does. Acclimate your new fish very slowly to insure their survival. A difference of more than 0.4 on the pH scale could cause pH shock and death within 48 hours if acclimated too quickly. Do not float the bags in your Aquarium.  The best way is to keep the bag(s) in the styro and to siphon water from their new tank through an airline tubing into the bag. Tie a knot in the airline or put an airline valve in line to control the flow to a slow drip (1 drop/second or slower). When the water added to the shipping bag is at least double the amount originally in the shipping bag. then you may add the fish to their new tank. You should acclimate for about 1/2 hour for every tenth of a point difference in pH you suspect may be possible (i.e. 8.0 pH to 7.0 pH should take 5 hours). You should not add any of the shipping water to your aquarium.
Always a good idea to quarantine ANY new arrivals for a few weeks before adding into established aquariums.
